Avila Partners provides engineering and expertise to help design, build, and operate energy-efficient and self-powered buildings. The company also supports efforts to make existing buildings run better, such as auditing, commissioning, and data analytics.
Avila Partners is led by David Houghton PE. Drawing on more than thirty years of experience in the energy efficiency field, Dave’s background includes building science, utility consulting and executive leadership, writing and presenting on energy-related topics, and plenty of hands-on experience in building systems engineering. Previously, Dave founded, grew, and turned over the design firm Resource Engineering Group, where he acted as engineer of record for over four hundred building projects.
Dave is a faculty member at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly), where he teaches courses on mechanical, electrical, and energy systems for buildings. He is a registered mechanical engineer in California and a registered professional engineer in other states including Colorado.
